Sunset Beach is just north of the North Carolina-South Carolina border, one of the northern towns in the Myrtle Beach/Grand Strand region. The “beach” portion of the town is separated from the mainland by marshlands and the Intracoastal Waterway. Lots of great golf is available on the mainland side.

Location
Sunset Beach is 40 miles south of Wilmington, North Carolina and 25 miles north of the boardwalk at Myrtle Beach. The inland towns of Calabash and Shalotte are both less than 10 miles from here.
Visitors coming from the north will probably find it easiest to take I-40 toward Wilmington, then US Route 17 south. From the south follow the signs toward Myrtle Beach, then take Route 17 north across the boarder.
Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) is 30 miles south of Sunset Beach, while Wilmington International Airport is an hour drive to the north.
